Biography
Clancy Baucom is the Republican candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives, District 55, in the November 3, 2026 general election; he advanced from the March 3, 2026 Republican primary and faces Democrat John J. Kirkpatrick IV.[1][2] According to his campaign website, he is a Union County commissioner and has operated a wholesale nursery business in Marshville for 37 years.[3]
Baucom's campaign website describes him as a native of rural Union County whose family has been rooted there for generations, and as a businessman, farmer and Sunday school teacher.[3] It says he graduated from Piedmont High School, earned an associate degree from NC State University, and has been married to his wife Kim for 35 years; they have three adult daughters.[3] The site says that as a commissioner he has provided tax incentives to attract businesses, supported a program to bring a cleaner and larger water supply to residents, and worked to preserve farmland.[3] It lists his priorities for the General Assembly as religious freedom, election integrity, supporting the life of the unborn, fewer business regulations and protecting Second Amendment rights.[3]
