Biography

Christopher Thomas is the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania State Senate District 24 in the November 3, 2026 general election, where he faces incumbent Republican Tracy Pennycuick and Green Party candidate Michael Schonewolf Jr.[1][2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he described himself as a former middle school teacher and community organizer.[3]

Christopher Thomas earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron in 2019 and a graduate degree from Drexel University in 2021.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he comes from a family of veterans, coal miners and educators, worked in construction for many years, and then became a middle school math and science teacher.[3] He said that experience led him to organize in support of candidates for school boards, township supervisor boards and borough councils; Ballotpedia lists his profession as community organizer.[3][2]

Thomas advanced from the Democratic primary on May 19, 2026.[2] He listed cost-of-living issues such as utility prices, banning surveillance pricing and raising the minimum wage, fair funding for public schools, and health care affordability as his key messages.[3]
