Biography
Christopher Girard is the Democratic candidate for the Michigan House of Representatives, District 96, in the November 3, 2026 general election, where he faces incumbent Republican Timothy Beson.[1][3] In a Ballotpedia survey, he described himself as the mayor of Bay City and a lifelong Bay County resident who has also run a disability nonprofit and a small real estate business.[2]
Girard graduated from Bay City Central High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Alma College in 1997, and Ballotpedia lists his profession as president and CEO.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he worked for his father, a general contractor, as his first job, has served for more than nine years as a city commissioner, helped run a disability nonprofit for 14 years, and built a small real estate business.[2] He also said he has served on the Bay-Arenac Behavioral Health board and that he and his wife Molly adopted five daughters and have twelve grandchildren.[2]
Girard advanced from the Democratic primary on August 4, 2026, as the only candidate on the ballot.[1] In the survey, he named dedicated road funding and property tax relief, expanded mental health services, and good-paying jobs and workforce training as the main points of his campaign.[2]
