DState Representative · District 2

On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Rhode Island House District 2

Biography

Chris Blazejewski is the Democratic Speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, has represented District 2 since 2011, and is seeking re-election in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] He is an attorney and was elected speaker of the House in May 2026.[1]

Blazejewski was born in 1979 and raised in Cumberland Hill, Rhode Island, and received a bachelor's degree in social studies and a J.D. from Harvard University in 2002 and 2005, respectively.[1] As of June 2026 he was an attorney for Sherin and Lodgen LLP, focusing on corporate law, legal malpractice defense and business disputes.[1]

Blazejewski first won election to the Rhode Island House in 2010, defeating independent Richard Rodi in the general election with 70.9% of the vote.[1] He served as House majority leader from November 2020 to May 2026.[1] On May 7, 2026, the House elected him speaker, 65-10 along partisan lines, to succeed K. Joseph Shekarchi, who resigned from the role to apply for a position on the state's supreme court.[1] Ballotpedia quotes him describing himself as a progressive who said the speaker's job is "to include all voices and make sure that they're heard."[1]
