Biography

Charles Eakins is a Libertarian write-in candidate for Arizona House of Representatives District 1 (2 seats) in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2] According to Ballotpedia, he works as a software engineer.[1]

In a Ballotpedia survey, Charles Eakins said he was born in Phoenix and raised in Pine, and that he began working on job sites at fourteen with his father before apprenticing under his grandfather hanging drywall.[3] He said he has written software since he was twelve and has spent more than twenty-five years building backend systems, test automation and hardware firmware, and that he wrote GridWalker, a free open-source app for wilderness search and rescue.[3]

Eakins said he decided to run after his state representative blocked him on social media accounts used to post committee agendas and sponsored bills, and that he wrote a bill of his own.[3] He listed free speech and assembly, and due process and self-defense, among his policy priorities, and said he opposes HB2412, which would raise penalties for threatening or harassing public officials.[3] He said his name will not be printed on the ballot and that voters must write it in.[3]
