Biography
Catherine Peters is the Democratic candidate for Oklahoma House of Representatives District 23 in the November 3, 2026 general election, where she faces Republican incumbent Derrick Hildebrant.[1] A businesswoman and lifelong northeastern Oklahoma resident, she says she is running to protect and restore public education and to expand health care.[1][2]
Peters graduated from Muskogee High School and earned associate degrees from Oklahoma State University in 1991 and Tulsa Community College in 2011.[1] She received a bachelor's degree from Rogers State University in 2016, and Ballotpedia lists her profession as businesswoman.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, Peters said she is a lifelong resident of northeastern Oklahoma who strongly opposes the direction taken by the majority party in the state legislature.[2]
Her Democratic primary was canceled, and she advanced to the general election without appearing on the primary ballot.[1] Peters said her first campaign message is to protect and restore public education, and that her second is a health care system that includes reproductive health care, mental health care, veterans services and lower prescription costs.[2]
