Candace Schutt is the Democratic candidate for South Carolina House of Representatives District 2 in the November 3, 2026 general election, running against incumbent Adam Duncan (R) and Libertarian Chris Des Marais.[1][2] A physician assistant, she says she is running as a representative for everyone rather than for a party or faction.[2][3]
According to Ballotpedia, Candace Schutt earned a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in 2002 and a graduate degree from the University of Alabama in 2008, and her career experience includes working as a physician's assistant.[2]
In a Ballotpedia survey, Schutt described herself as a health care provider, community advocate and volunteer.[3] She listed her campaign messages as addressing low wages and rising costs for working families through affordable housing, childcare support and health care access, investing in community infrastructure, and a government that supports people rather than controlling their private lives.[3] She named increasing health care access, affordability for working families, protecting vulnerable populations and mental health initiatives as her policy priorities.[3]
