Biography

Calvin Callahan is a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from District 35, who took office on January 4, 2021, and is seeking re-election in the November 3, 2026 general election against Democrat Elizabeth McCrank.[1][2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he described himself as a lifelong Lincoln County resident and a former Lincoln County Board member.[3]

In a Ballotpedia survey, Calvin Callahan said he was first elected to the Lincoln County Board in 2018, also served on the board of the Town of Wilson and chaired the Lincoln County Republican Party.[3] Ballotpedia lists his career experience as working as a regional field director with the Republican Party of Wisconsin.[1]

Callahan defeated Tyler Ruprecht in the November 3, 2020 general election for Assembly District 35, then won re-election in 2022 against Todd Frederick and in 2024 against Elizabeth McCrank.[1] For 2025-2026 he chairs the Consumer Protection Committee and is vice-chair of the Insurance Committee.[1] In the survey he cited affordability and tax relief as his main campaign message, including co-authoring legislation ending state income tax on overtime that passed both houses before a veto, and said he authored 2025 Wisconsin Act 230 on property insurance claims.[3]
