Biography

Blake Moore is the Republican incumbent seeking re-election, running in the newly drawn 2nd District after representing the old 1st District since 2021. A native of Ogden, he worked in the U.S. Foreign Service and as a Principal at the Cicero Group before entering Congress, and since 2023 has been Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference. He sits on the Ways and Means and Budget committees and is running on tax cuts, economic growth and support for Hill Air Force Base.[1][2][3]

Blake Moore was born in Ogden, Utah, in 1980, and his House website describes him as a native of Ogden.[1][3] According to that website, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Seoul, South Korea, and signed a scholarship to play quarterback at Utah State University before graduating from the University of Utah. It also says he was a Wendy's National High School Heisman winner and is an Eagle Scout.[3] Moore earned a B.A. in behavioral science and health from the University of Utah and an M.A. in public policy and administration from Northwestern University.[1][3]

Moore served in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State and worked abroad in business development in the healthcare and financial services industries, including as an international healthcare consultant with DocBerry International.[1][3] He later worked as a Principal at the Cicero Group, a Utah-based consulting firm, on social impact, market research and strategy projects before running for Congress.[2][3]

Moore was elected to the U.S. House in 2020, succeeding Rep. Rob Bishop, and took office January 3, 2021. In his first term he served on the Armed Services, Natural Resources and Budget committees.[1][3] His House website says four bills he sponsored were signed into law in that term: the Saline Lake Ecosystems in the Great Basin States Program Act, the Better Cybercrime Metrics Act, the National Medal of Honor Act and the Modernizing Access to our Public Land Act.[3] He was elected Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference in November 2023, which his House website says makes him the first Utahn elected to House or Senate leadership, and he also served as an Assistant Whip.[3] In the 119th Congress (2025-2026) Moore serves on the Committee on Ways and Means, on its Health, Social Security and Trade subcommittees, which his House website describes as a first for a Utah Republican, and on the Committee on Budget.[1][3] He convened a Debt and Deficit Task Force in Ogden and was named a 2022 Fiscal Hero by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, according to his House website, and he co-chairs the Depot, Air Force and Future caucuses.[3]

After Utah's congressional map was redrawn, Moore ran in the 2nd District and won the June 23, 2026 Republican primary over state Rep. Karianne Lisonbee, who had defeated him at the party convention.[4] His House website says he is married to Jane Boyer and that they have four sons.[3]
