Biography
Ben Wieman is the Democratic candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives, District 17B, in the November 3, 2026 general election, where he faces incumbent Republican Bobbie Harder.[1][2] An audio-video applications engineer who grew up on a dairy farm near Arlington, he lists agriculture and public school funding among his key messages.[3]
Ben Wieman graduated from Sibley East High School, attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, and earned an associate degree from Ridgewater College in Hutchinson in 2012.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he grew up on a dairy farm west of Arlington, took part in 4-H and FFA, and went to college for music performance and audio engineering.[3] He said his career in the professional audio and video industry took him to the Twin Cities, Oregon, Tennessee and Australia before he returned to the family farm during COVID.[3] Wieman said he now works remotely as an Audio Video Applications Engineer for Biamp Systems and lives north of Arlington.[3] He said he would stand up for small and family farms, and that every child in rural Minnesota deserves a high-quality education with schools funded so districts do not rely increasingly on property taxes.[3]
