Biography
Arlis Sayler is the Democratic candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives, District 13A, in the November 3, 2026 general election, facing Republican Tanja Goering in a race the August 11 primaries did not contest.[1][2] Retired after 35 years at Cargill, he said in a Ballotpedia survey that he was raised on North Dakota dairy farms and lives in West Central Minnesota.[1][3]
Arlis Sayler graduated from Dickinson High School, earned a bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University in 1985 and a graduate degree from Walden University in 2014.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he worked in the oil fields, earned an agricultural engineering degree, spent 35 years at Cargill leading teams, and later earned an MBA.[3] He said he has been married for more than 40 years and lives near his four children and seven grandchildren.[3]
Sayler listed agriculture, rural health care and community autonomy as his key messages, saying he would support biofuel facilities and diverse farming practices and would back health care for those who cannot afford it.[3] He named farms, small businesses, health care, education and human rights as the policy areas he cares about most.[3]
