Biography

Amanda Green is the Democratic nominee for the open Florida 2nd Congressional District seat. A Florida State University graduate, she describes a career in operations and pricing roles supporting global health programs, beginning with a USAID partner organization. She is running on an affordability, anti-corruption and government-accountability platform.[1][2][3]

According to her campaign website, Green was born at the San Diego Naval Hospital and raised primarily in St. Petersburg.[5] She earned a bachelor's degree in 2015 and a graduate degree in 2017 from Florida State University, according to Ballotpedia, and says she studied international development, economics and public administration; her campaign website also lists international affairs and emergency management.[2][5] She began her career with what she calls a leading USAID partner organization, the largest implementing partner of the agency according to her campaign website.[2][5] She says she worked for about a decade as an operations director and pricing expert supporting global health programs, famine monitoring systems, and relief efforts in Ukraine.[2][5] According to WFSU, her campaign website says she worked for a subsidiary of USAID until the agency was cut back after President Trump returned to office.[3]

Green entered the race after Rep. Neal Dunn announced his retirement; Ballotpedia lists no earlier campaigns or offices for her.[2][3][4] She won the August 18, 2026 four-way Democratic primary over Yen Bailey, Nicholas Zateslo and Brice Barnes, and WFSU reports endorsements from the AFL-CIO and Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil.[2][3] Her campaign priorities include lowering housing and gas costs, banning congressional stock trading, enacting term limits, and holding regular in-person town halls across the district.[2] Her campaign website says she now lives in the Big Bend region.[5]
