On the ballot Nov 3, 2026: Wisconsin Assembly District 2

Biography

Alicia Saunders is the Democratic candidate for Wisconsin State Assembly District 2 in the November 3, 2026 general election, in which she faces incumbent Shae Sortwell (R).[1][2] A Navy veteran and industrial sanitation worker from the Fox Valley, she said in a Ballotpedia survey that she would bring working-class experience to the Legislature.[1][3]

Saunders served in the U.S. Navy from 2002 to 2006 and earned a high school diploma through home schooling, according to Ballotpedia.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she described herself as the mother of two adult children who has lived in the Fox Valley most of her life and works in industrial sanitation.[3]

Saunders listed three campaign messages in the survey: showing up and representing the district, protecting local communities (including a say in decisions about major developments such as data centers), and bringing working-class experience to Madison.[3] She said she is passionate about local control over development affecting farmland and water, affordability measures such as better wages and child care, and veterans issues including expanding the veterans property tax credit.[3]
