Biography

Alicia Malay is a Republican state representative from Vermont's Rutland-8 District who has served since January 2025 and is seeking re-election in the November 3, 2026 general election. She is self-employed and lists lowering property taxes, public safety and economic growth as her priorities.[1][2]

Alicia Malay graduated from Orville H. Platt High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Castleton College in 2014.[1] Her career experience includes being self-employed.[1]

Malay assumed office on January 8, 2025, and advanced from the Republican primary on August 11, 2026.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, she described herself as a mother of three sons who has long been active in her community and as a moderate Republican seeking re-election to continue work on lowering property taxes, increasing public safety and growing the economy.[3] She said education makes up the majority of a property owner's tax bill and that education spending has risen sharply while enrollment has declined, and she said sentencing and treatment options are needed to address what she called a revolving door for many offenders.[3] She also said regulatory reform should make Vermont more business friendly, and she named criminal justice, corrections and public safety as her area of greatest policy interest.[3]
