Ali Dieng

Ali Dieng is the Democratic candidate for the Vermont House of Representatives, Chittenden-18 District (2 seats), in the November 3, 2026 general election, after advancing from the August 11 Democratic primary.[1][2] A former Burlington city councilor who works at Building Bright Futures, he lists education, health care, housing and workforce development among his priorities.[3][4]

Ali Dieng describes himself on his campaign website as a New North End neighbor, father, and former three-term Burlington City Councilor.[4] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he represented his neighborhoods on the Burlington City Council for eight years and spent 13 years with the Burlington School District as an educator and administrator.[3] He said he has spent the past five years at Building Bright Futures, working to strengthen Vermont's early childhood system, and is raising two daughters in Burlington's New North End.[3] His website says he founded the Burlington School District Parent University, helped found the Vermont New American Advisory Council, serves on the board of Community Health Centers, and previously served on the board of CVOEO.[4]

Dieng's campaign website lists education, universal health care, affordable housing and workforce development as priorities.[4] In the survey, he said he supports sustainable school funding, expanded access to early education, and more affordable community colleges, and wants to expand access to affordable health care, including mental health services, and to reduce prescription drug costs.[3]
