Biography

Alexander Bobella is a social worker from St. Albans and a Democratic candidate for the Vermont State Senate in the Franklin District in the November 3, 2026 general election.[1][2][3] In a Ballotpedia survey he said he supports a statewide single-payer health care system, statewide rent stabilization and an education tax based on income rather than home value.[3]

Alexander Bobella earned a bachelor's degree from Marlboro College in 2015 and a graduate degree from the University of Vermont in 2022, according to Ballotpedia.[2] In a Ballotpedia survey he said his career has been in care work, including supporting patients at the Brattleboro Retreat and UVM Medical Center, helping people navigate Medicaid, answering calls on an anti-violence hotline for the Pride Center, and organizing health care workers.[3] He said he now works as a social worker helping Vermont families with health care access and housing, owns a home in Saint Albans, and serves on the Saint Albans City Climate and Energy Advisory Commission.[3]

Bobella advanced from the August 11 Democratic primary with Gregory Rainville, and the two are running against incumbent Republicans Randy Brock and Robert Norris for the district's two seats.[2] His survey also listed increasing the number of qualified providers, expanding resources for Agencies on Aging, investing in affordable housing, and taxing the ultra-wealthy to fund services as proposals.[3]
