Biography
Alex Wait is the Democratic candidate for Indiana House of Representatives District 5 in the November 3, 2026 general election, after advancing from the May 5, 2026 Democratic primary.[1][2] A writer from Granger, he lists public school funding, utility costs and nonpartisan redistricting among his priorities.[1][3]
Alex Wait graduated from Penn High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Xavier University in 2016 and a graduate degree from King's College London in 2020.[1] His career experience includes working as a writer.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, he said he lives in Granger, where his family has lived for 25 years, and worked as a scriptwriter for a YouTube channel.[3]
Wait said his key messages are funding public schools instead of what he called school choice, using the state budget surplus to improve the power grid, and requiring data-center companies to disclose project costs to communities before construction.[3] He also said he would introduce bills to strengthen biometric privacy law and to create a nonpartisan redistricting commission.[3] Endorsers he listed include former U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly, State Representatives Maureen Bauer and Ryan Dvorak, IBEW Local 153 and the Indiana Reproductive Freedom PAC.[3]
