Biography
Ahsen Malik is an independent candidate for Virginia's 10th District. A middle school teacher with a background in residential mortgage finance and real estate, he describes himself as a uniter and an outsider, and his Ballotpedia survey responses emphasize congressional authority over war and ending government shutdowns.[1][2]
Malik was born and raised in Virginia, according to his Ballotpedia survey response, and he describes himself as the son of an immigrant and the father of two children.[1][2][3] His campaign website says his professional background is in education, residential mortgage finance and real estate, and he works as a middle school teacher; the Virginia Mercury's voter guide describes him as a political newcomer.[1][2][3]
Malik says he decided to run for Congress after finding only a single candidate on a House ballot in a past election.[1] He is running as an independent, and his campaign website describes being an outsider as a strength and says he is running to bring Americans on the left, right and center together.[2]
