Biography
Aaron Metzger is the Democratic candidate for the Missouri House of Representatives, District 161, in the November 3, 2026 general election, where he faces Republican Louise Secker.[1][2] A Joplin resident, he works as a CT technologist at a hospital in the city and says he is running on health care access, the cost of living and regulating data centers.[3]
Aaron Metzger earned a bachelor's degree from Pittsburg State University in 2009 and an associate degree from Labette Community College in 2013, and Ballotpedia lists a graduate degree from Pittsburg State University in 2026.[1] In a Ballotpedia survey, Metzger said he earned his radiography degree at Labette Community College and a Bachelor of Music and an MBA in Accounting and Healthcare Management from Pittsburg State University.[3] He said he has worked nights as a CT technologist at a Joplin hospital since May 2013, performing emergency scans, and that he lives in Joplin with his wife and daughter.[3]
Metzger advanced from the Democratic primary on August 4, 2026, with no opponent on the ballot.[1] In the survey, he described himself as not a career politician and listed three campaign messages: protecting Medicaid and keeping hospitals and emergency care within reach in Jasper and Newton counties, regulating data centers so they pay their share of taxes and the cost of the power and water they use, and respecting the decisions voters make at the ballot box.[3] He also listed public schools and local oversight of surveillance technology such as license-plate reader cameras among his policy interests.[3]
