  • Open seat: Gov. Mark Gordon (R) is term-limited. In the August 18, 2026 Republican primary, state Sen. Eric Barlow won with 45.1%, defeating Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder, who was endorsed by President Trump, and Brent Bien, who was backed by the Wyoming Republican Party.[1][2]
  • Kenneth Casner was unopposed for the Democratic nomination. Rebecca Bextel is the Constitution Party's candidate. The Wyoming Secretary of State's general-election candidate roster (September 9, 2026) lists these three as the only governor candidates.[1][4][10]

Research notes & limits

The Wyoming Secretary of State's General Election Candidate Roster (generated September 9, 2026) lists exactly three governor candidates: Eric Barlow (Republican), Kenneth R. Casner (Democratic) and Rebecca Bextel (Constitution); this matches the guide, and Joseph Kibler (withdrawn) is not on it. Ballotpedia was unreachable (bot challenge). Barlow's votes were checked against the Wyoming Legislature's official bill-information API (wyoleg.gov) as well as the repo's 2026 Wyoming Senate roll-call snapshot; earlier sessions were not reviewed. Casner did not answer WyoFile's questionnaire and has no campaign website that was found, so his profile is thin; his occupation could not be sourced and was removed. Wyoming governor candidates run alone on the ballot (no running-mate field). Bextel is labeled minimal because she is a minor-party candidate, though her own materials were available.
