Secretary of State of South Carolina

Research notes & limits

Slate: the SC State Election Commission's interactive candidate lookup could not be read; the two-candidate slate rests on Ballotpedia and the USA TODAY Network candidate guide only (one news source), so it is lower confidence than other races. Belton's campaign site loads only a title with no readable text, and he did not respond to the newspaper guide, so his priorities come from the guide and his Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey. Hammond's record items are the office's own list of accomplishments. No candidate statement on documentary proof of citizenship was found (South Carolina's State Election Commission, not the Secretary of State, administers elections).
