Basic profile — the most important sourced facts we found.

Gordon earned a self-designed Bachelor of Arts at Penn State in 1992, focused on the legal and public-policy questions surrounding cannabis reform, and an honors LL.B. from the University of Buckingham in England in 2012, according to his campaign biography.[1] The same biography says he passed the England and Wales bar examinations, and that he chose not to seek admission to the Rhode Island Bar.[1] He is not a lawyer, NBC 10 reported.[3]

Since 2014, Gordon says, he has provided private ecclesiastical legal guidance to several Christian church organizations, including service as legal advisor to a bishop of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church from 2014 to 2022 and to the matriarch of the Hebrew Catholic Church.[1] He and Anne Armstrong, a one-time gubernatorial candidate, lead the Healing Church; in 2015 they sought to smoke cannabis as part of a religious ceremony at Roger Williams Park.[3] In 2018 Gordon was the Compassion Party's nominee for attorney general.[3][5]

In the 2026 campaign, Gordon opposes Rhode Island's bans on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, telling NBC 10 that courts will have to look at them as restrictions on the right to bear arms.[3] He is anti-abortion but told the station he would not try to change the state law codifying abortion rights.[3] His campaign site lists defending constitutional rights, protecting vulnerable people, confronting public corruption and applying one standard of justice among its priorities.[2]

Fox News reported they appeared in court the same day and did not enter pleas on charges of marijuana possession and contributing to the delinquency of a minor (a 15-year-old was in the home), and were held on $25,000 bail. NBC 10 reported in October 2026 that he was not convicted in that case or in a 2016 arrest; Gordon says all charges were dismissed. The final court disposition was not found in a court record.[6][4]
