Governor of Hawaii

Statewide — all of Hawaii

General election · Tuesday, November 3, 2026

Sources re-checked October 19, 2026 · How we research

  • Incumbent Democrat Josh Green is seeking a second term. He won the August 8, 2026 Democratic primary against three other candidates.[1][2]
  • Gary Cordery, a contractor, won the August 8, 2026 Republican primary over Hilo businessman Ken Fujiyama; he had finished third in the 2022 Republican primary for governor.[3][2]
  • Governors and lieutenant governors run as tickets in the general election. Green's running mate is Kauai Mayor Derek Kawakami; Cordery's is Daniel Anthony. The Hawaii Office of Elections sample general-election ballot lists only these two tickets.[4][10][1]

Issue evidence — side by side

Recorded votes, documented positions and candidates’ own words are shown with sources. “In their own words” quotes a candidate on the topic without inferring a stance. Votes describe specific bills or motions; they do not establish overall support or opposition to a broad issue. A dash means our research has no evidence on that topic, not that the candidate has no position.

Research notes & limits

Slate confirmed against the Hawaii Office of Elections' official sample general-election ballot (two tickets: Green/Kawakami D, Cordery/Anthony R). Some pre-primary lists show four nonpartisan gubernatorial filers, but none appears on the general-election ballot. Ballotpedia was blocked; Wikipedia is used only for basic biography. Primary percentages are omitted because news and Wikipedia figures conflict.
