Biography
Kathy Jennings is the incumbent Democratic Attorney General, first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. A former Delaware state prosecutor, she is seeking a third four-year term and says her priorities are public safety, consumer and corporate accountability, election protection and legal action against federal policies.[1][2][3]

Jennings was born and raised in Wilmington and graduated from the University of Delaware and Villanova University Law School.[5]
Jennings began her career as a prosecutor in the Delaware Department of Justice, one of two women prosecutors there at the time, and later served as State Prosecutor and Chief Deputy Attorney General.[2][5] In 2017 she was appointed Chief Administrative Officer of New Castle County.[5]
Jennings was elected Attorney General in 2018, the first woman Democrat elected to the post according to her survey response, and took office on January 1, 2019.[1][2][5] She was re-elected in 2022.[1][2]
